Nervous? Excited? Hopeful? Sounds like a new student to us. Don’t worry. Our class designed for new students – SDV 100: The USF Experience - will introduce you to college life and help you succeed. These small discussion groups meet during the first eight weeks of the semester and will help you accomplish the following:
- Form friendships and connect with faculty.
- Identify your strengths as a learner.
- Confirm your career goals and map out your plan of study.
- Acquire effective learning strategies and manage your time.
- Understand the mission of USF and our campus resources.
USF believes that faculty interaction outside of class is not only possible, it’s essential. Our professors are available to help you refine a paper, understand a fuzzy concept, engage in research and develop your career. At USF you aren’t just a name. You are a priority.
Academic coaches in the Academic Success Center can help you organize your assignments, juggle the demands of both your classes and co-curricular activities, develop effective learning strategies and prepare for exams.
Confidential interpersonal counseling is also available to help you address any concerns that you might have. Learning Accessibility Services also provides accommodations for individuals with documented disabilities.
Through the Academic Success Center, USF provides quality tutoring in every subject area. In fact, during the 2009-2010 academic year, the University provided more than 1,500 hours of tutoring for students.
