Transfer Students
What are the admission requirements for transfer students and how do I apply?
- Any student who has not yet completed 12 credits of college coursework will be admitted on the basis of his or her high school record.
- Students with at least 12 transfer credits and a 2.5 GPA in their college coursework may be fully admissible to the university. Please forward us official transcripts from your high school (or GED certificate) and all post-secondary institutions that you have attended.
- If you do not meet the above criteria, we still encourage you to apply for admission. In some cases students who do not meet the admissions requirements outlined above may be granted conditional acceptance with the opportunity to receive full acceptance after the successful completion of one semester.

How can I determine if my credits transfer?
Most credits from four-year regionally accredited institutions transfer to USF, as well as credits (maximum of 64) from two-year regionally accredited institutions.
If you have completed any post-secondary coursework, bring your transcripts with you to your campus visit. We’ll provide immediate information to you about how your credits may transfer into your program of study. It’s that easy.
Once you are accepted and pay your deposit, the Registrar’s Office will conduct an official evaluation and degree audit. This information will be shared with your advisor in preparation for your registration.
What criteria do I need to satisfy to graduate?
- You will need to complete 128 credits.
- You will need to complete your final 30 credits and half of your major requirements at USF.
- You will need to complete USF’s liberal arts core requirements.
